Is the sig sp2022 discontinued.
This results in the gun being lighter but also feeling top heavy until you have a loaded mag inserted to balance it out. The P models, like the P226, are fully metal and are not made with a polymer frame. I have a SP2022 in .40, and it is a great gun. As for the SP2009, I think it is still in production, as well as the SP2340.

My guess is that Sig would have discontinued the model entirely had it not been for the French Government contract.The M17/M-18 has replaced it. While polymer striker fired pistols like the P320/M17/M18 and others have risen in popularity compared to metal DA/SA pistols the former has not replaced the latter. SIG's 2012 catalogue states (paraphrase) "smaller grip included" with gun. This would lead one to believe that the higher the number, the smaller the grip.
