"Medieval" is just an adjective identifying historical time period. The noun here is dynasty. It's not a modern dynasty, it's not an ancient dynasty, it's a medieval dynasty. So no cellphones, but you can use iron. The medieval times may be famous for wars, but they're not actually part of the meaning of the word.
