SIG's 2012 catalogue states (paraphrase) "smaller grip included" with gun. This would lead one to believe that the higher the number, the smaller the grip. If you have the budget for it get a P226 for a hammer fired. It’s an iconic Sig and there are a lot of accessories for it. The Sig Sauer P2022 is indeed a wonderful gun. We have 5 Sig Pro's in our family and every one of them get the pants shot off of them. Both of the Sig's have had many many rounds through them w/o any problems.
