Your picture doesn’t show the battery lights. If it’s the two most outside lights, that’s over voltage/over amperage protection. It’s supposed to reset after 5 minutes or so. The board is different than a regular 40v battery and doesn't have the "reset" tabs that you can reset a regular 40v ryobi battery when it won't charge.

Yes, I agree that there can be fiery issues. This is a battery that is less than one year old and has been recharged a grand total of twice. Ryobi is sending a new one, so complaining may seem out of order. It just seems wasteful.
