The game's AI is set to think that as long as you have robotic limbs, NPCs will consider you a skeleton. This is the same logic that one unique recruit has :P.

In combat my soldiers Block and Taunt the enemy, the hive princes snipe and my workers generally do the outflanking and killing with naginatas. This works well for me, once the fight swings in my favour the soldiers drop Block and aid the workers in pushing the advantage. Movement speed is important in Kenshi; movement is life.
