Any oil listed in Tiers 1 - 4 on the list linked to in post #3 should see this engine to a long service life.
My small leak onto exhaust was from oil cooler gasket. I replaced oil feed line, valve cover w gasket, intake manifold (which houses 1 pcv valve) and corrogated pcv intake/turbo hose/valve.
